Time Travlers Week

Campers Traveled through time for their camp theme this week. All Youth & Family staff would like to give a big thank you to all the Camper’s parents! We would have not been able to make our awesome time machines out recycled materials without you. We really appreciate the support! Campers had their time machines on display during the assembly for everyone to see. Please do not forget to take home the time machines at pick-up.

Discovery Lied Museum Field Trip

Yesterday 18 of our campers had a blast at their off-site exploration at the Discovery Lied Museum. This will be the third Summer that the SkyView YMCA has attended the Museum. Lied Museum has been enjoyed by YMCA of Southern Nevada for quite some time. Just last year we had the chance to check out the new location. It is one of the campers favorite off-site explorations. The most popular thing for the campers was the water area. Campers had a blast monkeying around in some of these photos.

Week 2 Campers of the Week

Here you will see our younger Campers of the Week for Week 2, Emily Holtz and Noah Salts. These campers rocked it all week and really shinned through our six elements of camp. Ayla Vanlex and Michael Vulpi were our older Campers of the Week, but they missed our assembly so they received their award on Monday during Rise & Shine. Great job campers!

Field Trips

The SkyView Y has lots of fun and exciting Field Trips coming. Don't forget to pre-register the Friday before the Field Trip. Your camper must registered for that day of camp that they are attending the field trip. Today is on-site Field Trips and the kids will be doing Yarn Away. Assembly: Week 1

Crafty Kids displayed their art work just like they would do at an art fair. During the assembly the campers cheered on the Campers of the Week and Leader of the Week. They also did a chant off. Leader of Week 1

Meet Kristin Guenther our Leader of the Week for Week 1 of camp. Here is her Y story!

“I picked the Y because I truly care about kids and want to be a teacher. My sister works at the Y and told me it would be an amazing opportunity. The minute I interviewed I felt welcomed and like I mattered. I felt like family.”

 

One Week Down

The campers first week has been a blast! Lots of new memories, traditions and friendships have started.  So many new and exciting elements were implemented this week. MOVEME

Just on Wednesday campers got to take part in a Yoga class through MOVEME. MOVEME is on our virtual Instructor lead classes by Fitness on Request. Photographed you will see the 8-15 year olds enjoying the class. The feedback was awesome! Even the 5-7 year olds enjoyed the relaxation and stretching. Next week the campers will explore core work using plates.

First Day of Camp

Happy Monday!

Camp is off to great a start! Only a few minutes till day one is complete. This week is sure to be filled with memories of a lifetime. We hope everyone had a great day and can not wait till we see you all tomorrow. Please see below for just a few reminders.

Reminders:

• All campers must have closed toed shoes on for the whole day.
• Please pack a water. Campers just need one, because we do refill them.
• Parents/Guardians please remember photo IDs for pick up.

Campers, rest up! It is sure to be another action packed day!

TGIF!

Friday is over and next weekday is MONDAY! Yup, that's the first day of camp. Below are a few helpful reminders of things to pack and things to remember for an epic summer.

What to pack: 

1. A smile

2. A towel, swimsuit, and water shoes or flip flops

3. A water bottle

4. AM and PM snack 

5. A bag for everything

*Don't forget to label it all. 

Parents Don't Forget

1. Photo ID is required at sign out 

2. Lunch menu is at sign in

3. There is a field trip Thursday, so register Monday. 

4. Newsletter will be out at 3pm Fridays

5. Camp payments are due Wednesday prior to week starting

One Day Camp

If you haven't already, sign up for our One Day Camp tomorrow! Yup, the kids are out and need some pre-summer fun. One Day Camp runs 7am-6pm tomorrow and is only $40. Hope to see some new faces before Summer Camps first day. Rest up campers, it's about to be a summer of fun and a lifetime of memories!
