Strategies

Strategies for Supporting Children's Pretend Play

• Imitate actions and sounds with children

• Provide open ended materials and props for pretending (ie. Real materials , phones,  pans , clothes)

• Participate in pretend play respectfully,  taking cues from children
     - Follow the theme and content set by the children.
     - Offer suggestions within the pretend situation.
     - Respect children's response to your ideas

Our Method of Learning

Active Learning !

Active learners become engaged in play and problem solving because they themselves choose to do so . Motivation theorist suggest that children choose to become engaged in activities and interactions that are enjoyable, related to their current interests , and that allow them to experience feelings of control, success and competence.

Our caring teachers support an educational process of learning through creative play while incorporating the Y's four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into every lesson. It's what makes our preschool extra special!

The Y uses the HighScope Method, a research-validated curriculum and follows state standards for Kindergarten readiness.

Your little learner is sure to make new friends and create memories while developing skills that will last a lifetime.

Book Fair

The Book Fair was a huge success at Skyview don't worry if you missed out on purchasing you are still in luck. Down below will be a link where you can still support and purchase books .Reading has become a big part of Summer camp we've realized that kids love to read as welll as be read to. Along with all of the fantastic stories that their able the to make up on their own. Support Reading with our youth .

CATCH !

Throughout camp campers have enjoyed pur CATCH Program . CATCH is a Program in which . Through physical activity, proper nutrition and teaching our children how to be healthy, we can reverse unhealthy trends, but only through a long-term and coordinated approach that involves changing the environment in which our kids live. Schools and after-school settings play a critical role in creating these environments to help students adopt a healthy lifestyle. Not only are schools and after-school programs ideal for teaching children how to make healthy choices, they are in many ways the front line in the fight against childhood obesity. Here at the Y we are excited about our kids enjoying a healthy way to have fun .
